Heritage Open Day: Guildford Jazz presents Live New Orleans Jazz From the Alvar Tree Frogs in the Courtyard of Abbotts Hospital as part of the Guildford Jazz and Soul Festival Alvar Tree Frogs are a 6 piece band dedicated to playing the music that made the streets of New Orleans a place to dance and party on the 1920s , 30s and 40s .
Abbots Hospital founded in 1619 Is a grade 1 listed building founded by George Abbot the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1619 . It is probably the finest historic building in Guildford. It was built as a place of shelter for the elderly poor of Guildford and 400 years later still provides accommodation for local elderly people.
The Guildford Jazz and Soul Festival runs for 6 weeks from late August to early October with live jazz at a variety of venues across Guildford - some ticketed and some free to access . Find out more at guildfordjazz.org.uk
