Heritage Open Day: Step behind closed doors in Aylesbury’s historic Old Town and discover the beautiful, hidden gardens tucked away within its charming almshouses. Thomas Hickman was born about 1637 and he lived at No 1 Church Street, Aylesbury, as did many of his cousins and their families in later years. He died in 1698. After his death the five cottages he had inherited became Almshouses for the people of Aylesbury.
These almshouses are home to some of Aylesbury's most stunning gardens, tended by residents to a high standard, brimming with colour and life.
The residents are opening their gardens to visitors to enjoy as part of Heritage Open Days 2025.
