Heritage Open Day: The first Danish Church was built in Osborne Street in 1871 to serve the spiritual and community needs of both Danes and other resident Scandinavians. It was also used by many northern Europeans on their way to the 'Promised Land' across the Atlantic On May 9, 1941, a devastating air raid completely flattened the building. However, with increasing trade and numbers of Danes coming to and living in Hull after the War, a new Church was built in 1954 with some items rescued from the old Church. One of these items being a seven branched candelabra which is now on the altar. More contemporary features include fine wooden panelling and ceiling lights which are also worthy of note.
