Heritage Open Day: Saint Ann's is a Grade I listed Georgian church which forms part of the city's iconic Quayside skyline. An exhibition on the history of the church will be on display. Saint Ann's Church was designed by William Newton in a dignified English Renaissance manner and consecrated in 1768. It replaced a chapel on the same site dating from 1344. The church is a rare example of Georgian architecture in the city. Its churchyard commands views of the River Tyne and includes historic graves of notable local people associated with the Quayside area . A history trail of the grounds is available.
