Heritage Open Day: Late-Victorian Arts & Crafts church with a distinctive campanile, striking interior, fronted by a pleasant green. Consecrated in 1888, St George's was funded by the wealth of shipbuilder Charles Mitchell, and his ability to afford the finest craftsmen of the time is reflected in the distinctive campanile, echoing St Mark's Basilica in Venice, and the magnificent interior that simply must be seen. There will be a guided tour and exhibition. The guided tour will take place at 1400 on Friday 13th September, with some light background organ music beforehand. The exhibition will be on display throughout the week.
