South Gate

Heritage Open Day: An historic Gateway. Norwich and Norfolk Medieval Association Meet an Archer from the 100-years war, a Man at Arms (town-militia man), a Benedictine Monk (Pardoner), and a Tradeswoman, with local craft.

The South Gate is a stone-fronted brick of three storeys with polygonal corner turrets. The side passages are 19th century. The gate as we see it is largely 1437. Upstairs is a spacious room with a fireplace, privy hole and gun ports.
