Friends Quaker Meeting House

Heritage Open Day: Truth, simplicity, equality and peace. Bridge Street begins with Quaker Meeting Room also known as The Friends House. The building dates from 1736. When the front wall was renovated recently, much older brick and stonework, probably taken from nearby Carmelite Priory ruins nearby, were found in it. It was an inn called the Hulk or, earlier, the Ship Hulk. It was bought for use as a Quaker Meeting House in 1986. Stained glass panels in the doors show its former use as a pub.

Serving non-alcoholic beers, soft drinks, teas and coffee from 1200-1600.
