Heritage Open Day: A short guided walk & talk showing the efforts of the Lowestoft Central Project to restore and rejuvenate Lowestoft Railway Station Over the past eight years the Lowestoft Central Project has been working with community and industry partners to improve and rejuvenate Lowestoft's iconic railway station. From new lighting to planters, re-opening of doorways, restoring and re-purposing redundant buildings, celebrating the stations history, running the towns only Tourist Information Office plus plans to create a heritage quarter, better toilets and a new roof. With just a handful of volunteers and the backing of the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership, much has been achieved with the help of industry and community support and much is still to do. - A light-hearted opportunity to find out more about the project, how it fought plans for a giant plastic box to be added to the former buffet roof, some unusual anecdotes and aspirations for the future.
