North Leigh Roman Villa Mosaic
Heritage Open Day: English Heritage's North Leigh Roman Villa Volunteers will open the site's beautiful 4th century mosaic 11am -5pm 20 & 21 Sep. Activities for families available. Explore the ruins, bring a picnic, learn about the site & Roman Britain from volunteers. Following English Heritage's major conservation work at North Leigh Roman Villa in Oxfordshire, funded by a generous donation from the Michael Bishop Foundation, the mosaics can once again be visited and the site looks at its best in decades. This is the ideal year to come along to appreciate Oxfordshire's finest Roman site.
One of the larger villas of Roman Britain, the site is noted for its early 4th-century mosaic floor which is now housed under a new roof offering much improved illumination of its intricate patterns.
