The local prison in Chelmsford is 200 years old. We will guide you around its perimeter and tell you all about its secret history. Your guide will relate the story of public double execution, as you stand at the very spot in front of the gallows. We will pause outside the house of a hero who courageously stopped the inmates from taking over when the place was engulfed by fire. There are many showbiz connections to the prison, we will tell you about some.
