Heritage Open Day: Ancient Monument and Listed (Grade II*) remnant of the brass industry which thrived in the Avon Valley in the 18th & 19th Centuries. We show how the mill worked and how it came to survive into the 21st Century when 32 other works were left to ruin. In the Mill, there are full-scale replicas of a water-powered brass hammer and rolling mill, and interactive computer-controlled dioramas of a hammer and a rolling mill. Our 18ft cast iron waterwheel powers a 1928 Ediswan dynamo generating carbon-zero energy. In the garden, there are five working scale models of different types of waterwheels. Guides are available as well as free to use Audio Guides, as well as QR codes to the audio descriptions using your own smartphones. For our younger visitors, we have Brass rubbing, a nature search checklist, and access to our Otter visitor videos.
