Drapers Windmill

Heritage Open Day: Thanet's last working windmill grinding local grain. Drapers Windmill was built in 1845 by Holmans of Canterbury. Rescued from dereliction in 1965, the Drapers Windmill Trust had restored the mill by 1975.
The mill has recently undergone extensive refurbishment by Kent County Council.
Subject to weather conditions, volunteers will be running the sweeps and the 104yr old Crossley auxilliary gas engine.
Visitors will be guided throughout the mill.
Hopefully our own flour will be available and free refreshments are offered at ground level.
A short film about the mill, created by local students, and cctv, enable less active visitors to see higher up the mill.
There is a small museum containing mill artifacts and archaeological finds from the site.
