Heritage Open Day: An 00 gauge running model of the Harleston Railway Station and Yard. The railway played a key part of the transport of goods both to and from the town. The Waveney Valley Railway opened in 1855 and operated until 1960. The highly decorated Victorian Italianate station building reflects the style of the town clock tower.
A 00 gauge model of rolling stock and the Station Building will be running. The display will be combined with a photographic exhibition of the line through its history, a film of the last day of passenger steam on the branch line in January 1953, and a presentation edited from film from the engine mounted camera.
The grade II listed Harleston Station survives today at 37 Station Road IP20 9ES.
