Heritage Open Day: St Peter the Apostle is a Grade II listed medieval building and grounds situated in a semi-rural area 3 miles from the ancient city of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Many interesting features, including a 6 bell tower, church hall, upper and lower church The church of St Peter's has registered for HOD weekends for several years. All visitors will be welcomed by our volunteers who will act as tour guides around the church and grounds, including the bell tower.
The church dates back to Norman times, the bell tower has 6 bells, one of which is 14th century from Kirkstall Abbey and has a lower and upper churchyard, the lower with French nuns' graves who settled in the area during the 19th century.
