Heritage Open Day: From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September there will be an exhibition of the history of Poltimore House and Estate displaying documents, photos, maps etc in the Studio Kitchen. Poltimore House has been part of the East Devon landscape since the first wings were built in 1560. Over the next few hundred years more wings were added and the front façade changed to the South facing Georgian aspect seen today. It has been a private home, 2 schools, a maternity and surgical hospital, nursing home and derelict building. Over the last 20 years volunteers have worked to maintain and start the restoration of this important site where the Treaty of Exeter was signed to usher in the end of the English Civil War in the South West.
