Heritage Open Day: St James is a Grade II listed building (Listed 1986) which is a Gothic Revival church of 1854 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, with elaborately painted canted chancel, five bay north and south arcade. Soaring landmark five-stage tower which has undergone extensive restoration with funding support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We have just restored our magnificent stained glass south rose window but we need considerable grant support to complete the remaining planned restoration phases.
