Heritage Open Day: Unique set of three carrstone & white brick, gothic style buildings. The complex was designed by William Lawrie and built by William Goose in 1856 and the North Chapel of these three buildings will be open.
The North Chapel is one of two identical Cemetery chapels built in the early Gothic style in carrstone and white brick and situated with the Sexton's House just inside the gates of the King's Walk Graveyard. Unusually, these are managed by Downham Market and Downham West Joint Burial Board, there being perhaps only 5 or 6 Burial Boards left in the country.
The North Chapel, which will be open, was for Anglicans and has a larger bell. The other was for the non-conformists.
