Heritage Open Day: From Bricks to Barrow: King Street in Paint, Poetry and Place. Discover 200 years of Wigan’s King Street through an exhibition of vibrant new paintings by David Barrow, & original poems by Ken Scally, and a presentation by Wigan Local History & Heritage Society.
King Street boasts more than a dozen listed buildings and over two centuries of architectural innovation, from grand theatres and elegant Georgian houses to one of the country’s earliest glass arcades.
This illustrated talk and celebration uses art to tell the story of the street. The Wigan Local History and Heritage Society will weave together four years of meticulous research with David Barrow’s vibrant new paintings and specially commissioned poems by Ken Scally.
