St Mary’s Congregational Church

Heritage Open Day: Congregational church with George Whitefield connection Originally in St Mary’s Square, the church was relocated to St Mary’s Street following the redevelopment of the city. The building was bought by Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, in 1788 for the Gloucester followers of George Whitefield, the famous 18th Century preacher. Originally called St Mary’s Hall, it then moved to St Mary’s Congregational Hall in 1958.
