St Philip and St James Church

Heritage Open Day: Victorian church built for an expanding population in the suburbs of Gloucester. The church was opened in 1851 as a daughter church of the ancient church of St Bartholomew’s, Churchdown to cater for Hucclecote’s growing population. It was built in medieval gothic style by the local architects firm of John Jacques & Son who were also responsible for the Mariners Chapel in the docks.
