Nunhead Cemetery
Heritage Open Day: Chapel and crypt visits provide a rare opportunity to learn more about the Anglican chapel and the crypt beneath. There will also be general cemetery tours on both days. Homemade refreshments will be available. Nunhead Cemetery, a Grade II* Victorian burial ground, is one of London's 'Magnificent Seven' cemeteries and is of historic and ecological importance. Set on a hillside, the 52 acres of Nunhead Cemetery provides a green breathing space offering peace and tranquillity at the heart of London's Borough of Southwark. Stroll a few metres away from the Main Avenue along any of the curved paths into the woodland away from the bustle and sounds of the city. There, amongst the trees, you will find the story of the nineteenth century written in stone.
