Combined Military Services Museum

Heritage Open Day: A treasure trove of militaria, with stories of intrigue and ingenuity, the museum engages our natural curiosity to discover and learn. The Combined Military Services Museum houses original British military artifacts, including the only surviving MK2 'Cockle' canoe as used in Operation Frankton, the 'Cockleshell Heroes' raid. We show a nationally important collection including English Civil War arms and armour, the 10th Century Maldon sword, and uniforms from the late 18th century to modern counter-terrorism. A significant feature of the collection is a TSR2 jet engine, the only remaining example on public display.
