The Cut, Halesworth: From Maltings to Arts Centre
Heritage Open Day: The Story of How the New Cut Maltings in Halesworth was transformed into The Cut Arts Centre. The event includes 2 short films
1) an animation showing how the original C19th New Cut Maltings building operated as a maltings
2) a documentary film + slides tracing the story of how and why the maltings was converted into a regional and community arts centre and enterprise hub.
The presentation is hosted by Simon Raven who was one of the co-founders of New Cut Arts, the charity created to build, manage and develop the building for its new purpose. It is dedicated to the memory of James Holloway without whose founding vision and singular determination the project would never have been brought into being.
Visitors can also enjoy The Malt Experience on the history of malting while in the building.
