Heritage Open Day: Built in 1788 the House was bought by the WI in 1952. There will be tours of the House, an archive exhibition, walking treasure hunt of Norwich and WI refreshments. The Norfolk Federation was formed in 1919 and September 2022 was the Platinum Jubilee of the WI's ownership of Evelyn Suffield House. Individual WIs raised the money to buy it as a centre for the Federation, often by running cake stalls! It cost £4,000, so this was no mean feat as rationing was still in place at that time. The property was renamed Evelyn Suffield House, in honour of the Federation's first and only President. The House has had an interesting history, having been successively owned by a musician, carpenter, engineer, solicitor, doctor, and now the WI.
