Gallows Field & Gazen Salts Nature Reserve
Heritage Open Day: Gallows field has become a grassland project for the reserve. It does, as the name implies, have a darker history. Our volunteers will be on hand to share the history of Gallows Field, where public executions were held. Felons were hanged & witches were drowned. It is believed the last hanging took place in the 1790s.
