Heritage Open Day: A guided walk of Dorset's Georgian Gem taking in notable features of architecture and local history. A guided walk taking approximately two hours of the town centre, totally rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1731, examining the history and detail of its Georgian and other architecture, including the ongoing restoration of the Grade I listed Corn Exchange/Town Hall, the Grade I listed parish church, and other fine buildings designed by architects John and William Bastard, the birthplace of sculptor Alfred Stevens who designed the Wellington Monument in St Paul’s Cathedral, and other places of note.
