Bishop Bonner's Cottage Museum

Heritage Open Day: A little gem of a museum housed in Dereham's oldest domestic building, a row of three thatched cottages that survived a town fire in 1679 and a Zeppelin raid in 1915. The museum is home to a wide range of exhibits of local interest and this year we are marking several significant anniversaries.

New for 2025 is ‘A Centenary of Cinema in Dereham’, celebrating the history of Dereham Corn Hall from the corn exchange to cinema via Jimi Hendrix!

2025 also marks the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, and we will have a display commemorating the local men who served in the Far East, and the early days of the FEPoW association in Dereham.

Brian Aldiss, the renowned science fiction author, was born in Dereham in 1925.
