Built in the Norman Period and occupied continuously since the 11th century, Durham Castle is now home to the students of University College, part of Durham University.

Experience a self-guided visit and explore Durham Castle at your own pace. Our knowledgeable guides and volunteers will be around Durham Castle to answer your questions and share some of the stories and hidden histories of the Castle.
