Heritage Open Day: Lace up your boots for a heritage trail that offers peaceful walking and history insights from the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Andrew Barnes will lead the walk on behalf of the Stanhill Village Community Association. The tour will cover six sites, starting at the birthplace of the Industrial Textile Revolution and at the cottage where James Hargreaves invented the Spinning Jenny in 1764. Participants will then visit Stanhill Hall, explore the local industry, and Peel Fold Farm, where Robert Peel once lived. The tour will also include a visit to the former Italian POW camp, which later housed German POWs awaiting repatriation. Finally, attendees will learn about the area's important role in the development of calico printing.
