Heritage Open Day: This special exhibition features original drawings of Jesmond Library by architect Harry Faulkner-Brown, alongside the rarely seen physical model of the library - on loan from FaulknerBrowns Architects. The drawings and model and other activities at the library during Heritage Week offer a unique insight into the design, history of this iconic modernist building, which was first opened to the public by Newcastle City Council in 1963. Closed by the Council in 2013, Jesmond Library is now a successful community managed library which operates as a vibrant community hub, housing many events and local group activities as well as maintaining a large book collection. The building continues to be a well loved icon - a beautiful, light, airy and adaptable space.
