Meet the Ouseburn River: Prize Trail

Heritage Open Day: Chose from one of three trails -- themed around beer, wildlife, or architectural history -- and solve four clues to discover the name of one of the Ouseburn's famous river creatures! Bring back the name of your creature for a prize. Explore the hidden histories of the Ouseburn River! A small but mighty river, the Ouseburn was once a hub for industry, both pulling people in with its fresh water supply, transport routes and economic prospects, and pushing them away as disease, flooding and pollution took their toll. When industry declined in the twentieth century, the Ouseburn became a focal point for change, with efforts to restore its ecological health and reconnect people with its natural surroundings.
