History tours of the church with a scavenger hunt for children

Heritage Open Day: St Mary the Virgin, Eccleston, nr Chorley will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, 20/21 st September with tours of the church. On Saturday evening there will be a talk about BATS with a bat hunt and identification. Time tbc. The church is over 900 years old, one of the oldest in Lancashire. It is situated by the River Yarrow. Tours will be at 12pm 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 20th September. The tours will be 12pm and 2pm on Sunday, 21st September, after the morning service. There will be a church scavenger hunt for the children.

(TBC) On Saturday evening, Lancashire Wildlife Trust will present a talk about BATS with a churchyard hunt to detect bats and identify the species. Children must be accompanied on the bat hunt.
