Shipwreck Archaeology on the Beach
Heritage Open Day: Try your hand at shipwreck archaeology on the beach! Under guidance from the Nautical Archaeology Society learn how to record a real shipwreck, then use that information to discover the history of the vessel when it was still afloat... At these drop-in sessions, under supervision from experienced archaeologists, participants will use recording frames, tape measures, waterproof paper, and pencils to record the remains of a wooden wreck on the beach between the Explosion Museum and the Jolly Roger Pub. This information will be used in conjunction with pre-prepared historical material to allow the participants to discover the history of this vessel.
