Heritage Open Day: A rare opportunity to explore Fort Burgoyne and discover more about the site’s history and it’s diverse range of wildlife. Parade ground, stables, and terreplein will be available to explore. Tours of restricted access areas bookable on the day Dating back to the 1860s, Fort Burgoyne is a Palmerston Fort built to protect Dover from land attack. It’s interesting shape, variety of structures and diverse wildlife makes this a fascinating site to explore.

The parade ground, stables, terreplein and some of the casemates will be available to explore at your leisure. Tours led by our knowledgeable volunteers will be available to book on the day providing access to the lower levels, shooting gallery, chemin de ronde and other usually restricted access areas.
