Tour of the Oratory Church and the Museum of St John Henry Newman.

Heritage Open Day: Guided tours of the Baroque styled Oratory Church and the Museum of St John Henry Newman found in the Oratory House. The Oratory Church is Grade II* listed building which dates mainly from the beginning of the Twentieth Century but with an interior which evokes the Italian Baroque. It was founded by the famous English Catholic Convert and Writer Cardinal John Henry Newman and was once the home of JRR Tolkien. It remains home to a vibrant and diverse Roman Catholic faith community.

The church is filled with rich marble interiors and Italian mosaics which were produced by craftsmen in Murano, Italy. It also features an alabaster baptistry by the local designer Dunstan Powell and executed by the Hardmans company.
