St Joseph's Catholic Church, Sheringham
Heritage Open Day: St Joseph's Catholic Church: a masterpiece of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. A parish church for Sheringham, which, aside from the town's war memorial, is Sheringham's only listed building. St Joseph's Church, by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, is a prominent structure in Sheringham. Its red brick exterior opens up to a fusion of the medieval and modern, with artistic homages to other Norfolk churches in the St Joseph's seven sacrament font and elaborately painted reredos. The Lady Chapel is home to a Gill-esque altar. A suspended Rood and large Stations of the Cross by Stuflesser are of particular interest. The heart of the Catholic community in Sheringham, we are pleased to open our doors for tours, information and prayer, and welcome all people for this open day.
