The Lost Street - Uncovering Southport's Victorian Past

Heritage Open Day: Discover the buried Victorian street that once bustled with seaside visitors on their way to the beach - thanks to the magic of 3D artist Joe Hill. Walk up Nevill Street today to Southport's heart as a seaside resort and you'd never guess that a Victorian street lies buried at the top. But you can revisit this much mythologised part of Southport's history when we roll out the wonderful artwork by 3D Joe and Max showing you life 150 years ago beneath your feet.

When you stand in the right spot, the buried street comes to life - we'll be there to help you get the best view to take photos of family and friends 'balancing' on the edge over the street 'below'.

For nearly 100 years, visitors to the beach strolled through a gap dug in the sandhills to reach the beach.
