Heritage Open Day: Visit the Council Chamber at The Heart of The Town Hall and discover how local decisions are made there. See the splendid Civic Regalia and learn about it's fascinating history. And complete your tour meeting the Mayor in the Mayor's Parlour. The Town Hall was built as municipal offices in the 1930's and only took on it's existing role following the fire that destroyed the old gothic town hall in 1947. The building is grade II listed.
