A powerful new play based on true events of the 2019 Fishlake floods is touring to Doncaster, Wakefield and Rotherham this October. Using real accounts from those who lived through the disaster, ‘Fishlake’ by Jeremy Fletcher tells of the South Yorkshire village devastated by the flood when overnight 90% of its 250 homes were submerged beneath floodwater. All of a sudden, Fishlake was thrust into the centre of a national storm, surrounded by TV crews, politicians, the military and emergency responders.
Audiences can expect a raw and powerful theatrical experience, blending heartbreak, humour, verbatim storytelling, music and movement, as well as a choir drawn from the very heart of the community. Don’t miss this moving and unforgettable testament to the unbreakable spirit of those facing the unimaginable.
