Heritage Open Days - Shaw House

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all free.
Join us in the Great Hall for introductory talks about the history of the House throughout the day (no need to book) and then explore the House, exhibition rooms and our historic costume exhibition ‘Dressed for Shaw’ and the English Civil War arms and armoury exhibition ‘Dressed for Battle’.
Visitors can also pre-book to visit to the Elizabethan bake house which was discovered during restoration and is one of the very special features of Shaw House. Public access is not usually possible due to its location below the café but during the open days you will have the chance to climb below the ground floor and discover the well preserved elements of the 16th century kitchen.
Shaw House, café and grounds open 11am - 4pm with talks about the history of the House throughout the day.
