Journeys Festival of Dance returns this September with three days of free, family-friendly performances in Uckfield, Hailsham, and Bexhill. Produced by local event organisers 18 Hours, the festival brings high-quality, accessible dance right into the heart of our towns.
The festival opens on Friday 26 September at Bridge Cottage, Uckfield, with an uplifting Bollywood performance from Showmi Dance Company. Known for their colourful, high-energy style, they celebrate connection, confidence, and community through movement.
On Saturday 27 September, Hailsham town centre hosts the O’Driscoll Collective with One%, a powerful mix of breakdance and hip hop theatre. Through raw movement and music, the piece explores shifting emotions and the importance of mental health awareness. After their second performance, the duo will lead a free dance workshop for all ages.
The finale takes place on Sunday 28 September at the De La Warr Pavilion Terrace, Bexhill, with the internationally acclaimed Sujata Banerjee Dance Company. Their solo and ensemble works showcase the rhythm, elegance, and expressive storytelling of Kathak, one of India’s classical dance forms.
All events are free to attend, no booking required. For full details visit: 18hours.org.uk/events/journeysfestivalofdance
