German Baroque wedding festivities combined solemn ceremony and joyful celebration, the latter often spread over several days. Vox Luminis and Freiburg Baroque Consort unite to perform wedding music spanning more than a century, including Heinrich Schütz’s noble setting of Psalm 133 (‘How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!’) of 1619. Their programme encompasses enchanting wedding cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and his older cousin, the admirable Johann Christoph Bach.
