Broadcast screening of the new production from The Metropolitan Opera, New York, of Bellini’s poignant tale of love lost and found, for the sleepwalking heroine of this operatic gem. Less frequently staged by major UK companies it's a great opportunity to see this stunningly staged new production, retaining the opera's original setting in the Swiss Alps. Deeper than a comedy, but in no way a tragedy, La Sonnambula reaches its conclusion through genuine, poignant character development, rather than by intrigue or farce.
