We are joined by the Euston String Quartet to perform a programme of music in honour of St Cecilia, the patron saint of music and musicians whose feast day falls on 22nd November. Our major work is Charles Gounod’s St Cecilia Mass, a delightfully melodic and often dramatic setting which is rarely heard these days; we will be singing it in a new arrangement for double choir, string quartet and piano. Other works include Peter Philips’ Cecilia virgo, Eric Whitacre’s Her sacred spirit soars and Gabriel Fauré’s beloved Cantique de Jean Racine.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Mayor of Ely's charities: Ely Foodbank & Voluntary Community Action East Cambs
