Harrogate Theatre Choir presents.....LOVE STORIES

Love Stories guarantees a rollercoaster of emotions in song.

In four acts, Harrogate Theatre Choir explores the complicated psychology of love through an eclectic selection of the greatest love songs, both familiar and unfamiliar, from one hundred years of stage and screen. There are as many categories of love as there are songs, but this performance distils the variety through a range of beautiful numbers, each reflecting the nuances and moods of love.

A spectrum of sounds encompasses the Greek concept of love which enabled them to distinguish more clearly between the different types. Eros, or passionate love, is most akin to the modern construct of romantic love. In Greek myth, it is a form of madness brought about by one of Cupid’s arrows. The arrow breaches us and we “fall” in love, as did Paris with Helen, leading to the downfall of Troy and much of the assembled Greek army.

Under Musical Director Catherine Field-Leather, HTC’s four stories delve into love found, unrequited, lost and enduring.

Musical Theatre has the knack of transporting us through them all; love songs that unite in expressing our essential search for the meaning of love. The perfect performance to honour Saint Valentine...
