Carducci Quartet

The celebrated Carducci Quartet performs Schubert’s beautiful 10th quartet in E-flat – first performed privately in the Schubert household by members of the family in 1813, hence sometimes called the Haushaltung (Household) Quartet. It is followed by American composer Caroline Shaw’s remarkable ‘Entr’acte’, written in 2011 and inspired by the minuet from one of Haydn’s Op.77 quartets. Their concert closes with Shostakovich’s 2nd quartet, one of his two chamber works composed during the Second World War, in 1944, following the Eighth Symphony.
