Oxford’s acclaimed chamber choir Commotio makes its debut at St Mary Magdalene’s, Woodstock, with a vibrant programme of contemporary choral music. Renowned for championing the best modern compositions and rediscovering overlooked gems of the past century, Commotio offers a rich and refreshing musical experience.
Highlights include music from their No.1 album with Bob Chilcott: 'Rose in the Middle of Winter', and works by Martin Read, Richard Allain, and David Bednall—each of whom has a special connection to the choir. Commotio are pleased to present one of the first live performances of Whitacre's 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening', written 25 years ago but only now available with the text as the composer originally intended.
The choir will also be sharing their annual mince-pie bake off at the interval; a prospect nearly as tantalising as their superb singing. Don’t miss this unique evening of powerful, poignant, and uplifting choral music.
