This pleasant circular walk starts in the lovely market town of Bakewell and follows gentle paths through the Chatsworth Estate to the front of Chatsworth House. From there, it continues to the pretty village of Edensor, where you can pause for refreshments at the café, before returning to Bakewell through rolling parkland and along quiet country lanes.
Bakewell is very busy on the weekend so we will leave here first with time afterwards to explore. We immediately head up hill with a gradual descent to Chatsworth, we have to head back up this hill another way to get back to Bakewell later on. We pass briefly through a golf course, the players are used to ramblers. Within the Chatsworth grounds there are many sheep and deer. We keep away from the busy road but please be aware that there is no barrier preventing access. We pass through quiet Edensor Village with no through traffic. There is quiet lane walking at the end with a brief bit of busy road right at the end. This walk can get very muddy, its mostly grass with some gravelled bridleways. We are never to far from civilisation but still exposed on the high level sections. This is a nice ramble, a good introduction to walking in the Peak District.
