Our NNAS Silver Navigator course is a nationally recognised 2-day training designed for walkers ready to go beyond easy tracks and trails.
You’ll develop the confidence to:
Navigate away from marked paths
Read and interpret maps with accuracy
Use a compass in varied terrain
Plan and follow routes in open countryside
The course is delivered 100% outdoors in the stunning Wiltshire countryside. It’s practical, hands-on, and led by Brian from Rockyventures Ltd, an approved NNAS provider with years of experience.

Nationally recognised Silver Navigator award
Expert instruction in small groups
Maps and compasses available if required
Who is this course for?
Perfect if you already have some navigation experience (e.g. NNAS Bronze or equivalent) and want to push your skills further.
Essential kit to bring
Walking boots or trail shoes
Waterproof jacket and trousers
Warm layers, hat, gloves
Rucksack (30L recommended)
Map and compass (can be provided)
Packed lunch, snacks and water
A full kit list will be provided after booking.
Practical details
Day 1: Training – meeting point at Avebury, Wiltshire (OS Explorer 157)
Day 2: Training and assessment – location confirmed with group
Times: 09:00 – 17:00 both days
Facilities: Toilets available in Avebury (none on training routes)
