A care home in Leatherhead is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.
Liberham Lodge, on Rectory Lane in Little Bookham, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for carol singing on Monday 1st December from 3pm-5pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, visitors to Liberham Lodge will have the opportunity to sing traditional carols around the tree alongside the team and residents.
There will also be seasonal refreshments such as mince pies, warm sausage rolls and mulled wine for all to enjoy as they reminisce about past holidays while watching the home’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Resident Deliah said: “I am looking forward to the Christmas celebration! A good sing song under the Christmas tree lights will take me back to memories I have of my own family.
Jagpal Singh, General Manager at Liberham Lodge, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year and this event allows us to honour memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.
“We’d like to encourage locals to join us to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Leatherhead.”
